In 2007, the Irish Draught Horse Society, Northern Ireland, launched the Stallion Covering Auction, a fund raising initiative to preserve and promote the Irish Draught while providing much needed financial assistance to local chariities.

This initiative was applauded throughout the equine community and beyond, encouraging the IDHS NI to hold a subsequent auction in 2008.

Once again it was exceptionally well supported and subsequently it has become an annual event.
